MyTurn is a movement of young people who believe the time has come to end the cruelty of poverty.

The path which led to the establishment of Flying Kites started when a group of students conducted a research project for a college course in global poverty. That project has since grown to an established non-profit organization that includes professionals from a variety of fields dedicated to developing the Flying Kites model.

As an organization we recognize the power of the ambitious student. Our appreciation of the imagination, courage, and excitement for life that young people possess is why we have launched MyTurn on college campuses throughout the country.

We know how easy it is to ignore the problems facing forgotten children on the other side of the world. MyTurn Campus Chapters raise awareness and funds to battle this complacency, cultivate hope, and affect genuine change. MyTurn leaders help other students realize the power they possess to stand up for orphaned children and awaken the sense of responsibility necessary to begin the process. MyTurn chapter members bring the initiative to their hometowns by presenting the Flying Kites DVD to their local high schools, churches, community centers, and even to friends and families from their own living rooms.

Our vision is to set the standard for how education can be delivered to orphaned children in struggling countries. We are aggressive and determined; we seek to build a team of students who do not buckle when the world tells them what they are doing is impractical or simply “not our problem.”
