Kinder Kites

Kinder Kites

To complement our school fundraising and in line with the philosophy of our college MyTurn initiative, we have launched a program to get younger children acquainted with topics on social justice and the similarities or dissimilarities between children in the US and Kenya.

We believe that marginalized children must have access to the highest quality childcare in order to break free from the cycle of poverty. We aim to provide the children in our home with a first-class education and a wealth of opportunities.

These goals, however, are not complete without the input from other global educational experiences. The mission of Kinder Kites is to join youth from divergent cultures in a unified educational experience. We believe our primary school level program will provide the impetus for a lifetime of giving, sharing, and respecting of others.

By starting early in a child’s educational development, Kinder Kites gives children a medium to make a difference. The program emphasizes positive global engagement with a focus on what is possible – not what is impossible - to give children of all ages a sense of empowerment to affect positive change. The children in both countries will learn how each other live through monthly interactions related to curriculum being taught in both classrooms. With the exchange of drawings, photography, podcasts, video clips, emails, and physical items, the children will learn in a multi-media environment with real, hands-on experiences.
